Vice President, Mission Systems

As Vice President of Mission Systems, Dr. John Regner is responsible for Group operations, profit goals, and new business pursuits for defense-focused Engineered Systems and Analysis.

An employee of the Company since 1983, Dr. Regner was initially the Assistant Program Manager for Mission Analysis.  In this role, he conducted analyses to provide mission requirements definition for system concept studies of missile defense architectures.  From 1985 through 1990, Dr. Regner’s duties expanded to include threat analysis, system definition requirements, and simulation development.  He provided evaluations of defense system components for protection of the continental United States and theater regions, conducted analyses of strategic doctrine and policy implications of missile defense, and participated in the development of simulation tools to enhance TBE’s analytic breadth and depth.

From 1991 to 1999, Dr. Regner served as the Company’s Program Manager of Systems Analysis Projects, where he was responsible to U.S. Army customers for the management and operation of the Systems Engineering Technical Assistance Contract support programs related to system-level analysis products for ballistic and cruise missile defense.  He organized and led a multi-disciplinary team for customer support that provided engineering/analytical services, technology evaluation/integration, and simulation development.

In 1993, Dr. Regner assumed the dual role of Technical Director for Analysis and Simulation in a newly formed Analysis and Simulation Strategic Business Unit.  In this position, he was responsible for the development of analytic tools and conduct of system studies for Service and Defense Department customers.

In 1999, this role evolved into a position as the Division Director for Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis within the Information Technology Strategic Business Unit.  In 2002, Dr. Regner accepted the assignment as TBE Director for Modeling and Simulation.  He was promoted to Vice President of the Defense Systems Group in 2007.

Before joining Teledyne Brown, Dr. Regner was with the Institute for Defense Analyses for seven years, conducting studies and strategic analyses for the Office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Undersecretary of Defense for Research and Engineering.  From 1969 until 1973, he was employed at North American Rockwell, performing analyses and trade studies for tactical missile systems.

Dr. Regner received all of his degrees from Ohio State University (OSU).  He received his bachelor’s degree in engineering physics, followed by master’s and Ph.D. degrees in nuclear physics. During 1976 and 1977, he served as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at OSU in the area of polarized particle physics.

Dr. Regner is an active member of the American Physical Society, the Military Operations Research Society, and the Military Applications Society of the Institute for Operations Research and Management Sciences.
