Rice Wins Top MORS Award

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (July 9, 2006) — Teledyne Brown Engineering, Inc. (TBE) announced today that Chief Scientist Dr. Roy Rice was recently selected by the Military Operations Research Society (MORS) to receive its highest recognition, the Vance R. Wanner Memorial Award.
Rice was chosen for the award based on his outstanding contributions to the progress of advancing the profession of military operations research. Rice has been an engineer and analyst for over 30 years in both the Air Force and Teledyne Brown. He has been a member of MORS for over 20 years Rice was the president of MORS in 2000-2001 and was invested as a Fellow of the Society in 2003.

Roy is an exceptional analyst and a key person to many of our successes. Teledyne Brown is proud to have on staff many engineers who have received worldwide recognition for their expertise.”
The Vance R. Wanner Memorial Award is presented annually and given to a military operations research professional who has played a major role in strengthening the profession of Military Operations research. The award, first presented in 1978, is named after the MORS first executive secretary. Other award recipients include General (ret.) Larry Welch, former chief of staff of the Air Force, Dr. Donald Rice, former Secretary of the Air Force, and Dr. Wilbur Payne, the first Deputy Undersecretary of the Army for Operations Research.
Rice was presented with the award during the MORS annual symposium held in June at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. MORS, celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, has worldwide membership comprising military, industry, and academia.
