Greg Brewer Presented McClellan Award

Greg Brewer, a Senior Engineering Technician in the Manufacturing Center, was selected as the recipient of the Teledyne Brown Dave McClellan Memorial Award. Scott Hall, Vice President of Marine and Aviation Manufacturing, made the presentation at a special award ceremony held May 7 in the Manufacturing Center.

In his position, Brewer works in the Quality Assurance Department conducting mechanical inspection of materials and performing other quality functions. He also operates the Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and other quality machinery.

An employee of Teledyne Brown for almost 4 years, Brewer was described by his nominator as “a valuable employee who will do whatever is necessary and stay as many hours as needed to get the job done.” He also noted that Brewer has a great attitude and is a pleasure to work with.

Brewer was presented a gift card and a designated, front-row parking space for a year. In addition, his name was added to the McClellan award plaque that is displayed prominently in the lobby of the Manufacturing Center.

The award is presented annually in memory of McClellan, who was a long-time, dedicated employee of TBE and a close friend to many of those he worked with. He was highly respected for his work ethic, for doing the best job possible, and for his willingness to help his co-workers – all qualities on which the award is based. McClellan died in 1993 after a battle with cancer.

Nominations for the award are accepted annually from employees in manufacturing, maintenance, and quality operations. The winner is selected by a different committee of employees each year.

The 2011 selection committee included Oscar Daniel, Kathy Dunn, Marty Hall, Kirby Parks, Ricky Martin, and Patricia Pyles.
