Thunder UAS
Teledyne Brown Engineering is adapting a proven armed reconnaissance / tactical strike system to become Thunder, our armed Unmanned Aerial System. This UAS will provide the Maneuver Forces Commander with a real-time sensor-to-shooter capability.
Thunder is a day-and-night, all-weather system, allowing immediate placement of fire on a target. It is fully ground and air (C-130 and helicopter) transportable, and can be launched and recovered without an airfield. It is capable of integration with existing and projected command-and-control components.
Other key features:
- Radar seeker for target search, classification, and target homing
- Infrared digital camera for target identification and ISR
- Autonomous (fire and forget) or man-in-the-loop control
- Effective against medium and heavy armor, high-value targets; steep-dive attack profile
- Pinpoint hit accuracy
- Stealthy airframe (RF and IR)
- Either catapult or rocket-assisted launch
- Parachute / air-bag landing system
Thunder is available and offers flexibility to meet the requirements of the Maneuver Commander.
