Teledyne
Brown Engineering has remained on the cutting edge of defense simulation
technology through its support of distributed interactive simulations,
particularly in the realm of exercise and training and other real-time
experiments.
The concept
of Distributed Interactive Simulations (DIS) was developed through the
Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DRPA) to simplify the task
of linking simulations running in real-time across a network. To overcome
limitations associated with DIS and the legacy approach of the Aggregate
Level Simulation Protocol (ALSP), the Defense Modeling and Simulation
Office of DRPA is currently leading a DoD-wide effort to establish a common
technical framework to further facilitate the interoperability of all
types of models and simulations. This common technical framework includes
the High Level Architecture
(HLA) and currently represents the highest priority effort within the
DOD modeling and simulation community. Teledyne Brown is actively participating
in the evolving HLA.
