Space Systems Training
Stemming from our experience in planning, integrating, maintaining, and administering training programs and operations for NASA, Teledyne Brown Engineering has an excellent capability in space systems training and crew operations.
Space Systems Training
Teledyne Brown Engineering plans, develops, and executes payload training for NASA ground support personnel (cadre and payload developers) and on-board crew.
- Training Program Development - Using our experienced gained in NASA's Space Lab, International Space Station (ISS), and the Ares programs, our space program training veterans are able to develop training programs from conception through execution. Using the knowledge we have gained from creating and maintaining NASA training programs, our training specialists have the skills to deliver an efficient, comprehensive training program.
- Training - Working in partnership with government personnel, we design and implement the full spectrum of payload training initiatives, from classroom instruction to simulator design and development.
- Courseware Development - We develop interactive courseware on complex experiments and research facilities that fly on the ISS. The full spectrum of payload training initiatives includes classroom instruction, electronic media, or web-based delivery.
- Simulations - The training program culminates in high-fidelity distributed mission simulations of space operations. Our Joint Integrated Simulations serve NASA as round-the-clock dress rehearsals for space flight that include scientists and control centers worldwide.
- Hands-On Training - We provide scientific experiment training and simulations in a full-size mock-up of the ISS Destiny lab. Our flight controllers are highly trained and certified for real-time operations because of their hands-on simulator and virtual training.
- Community Partnership - We have partnered with High Schools United with NASA to Create Hardware (HUNCH) to develop simulator hardware and software to support ground training exercises utilizing electronic, CAD-drafting, CNC-machinery, welding, graphics, and sewing curriculums. This program provides students with skills and develops an interest in working in the space program.
Experiment Operations
Our operations specialists have the skills necessary to perform systems analysis, procedure development, human factors assessment, operating displays and interface development, and inventory management.
- Human Factors - Our Human Factors experts serve as consultants to the payload developer and science teams. They ensure that crew-display interfaces are usable per ISO 9000 and are compliant with ISS graphical standards.
- Procedure Development - The ISS crew is able to operate highly sophisticated scientific experiments with ease because of our expert ability to create organized, easy-to-follow, precise procedures.
- Operations Support - We provide a representative to each payload developer team that is responsible for crew procedures, crew and ground training, and real-time operations. We also provide real-time operations support for Microgravity Glovebox payloads.
- Space-to-Ground Communications - We provide expertly trained communicators that serve as the primary voice communications link between the astronauts aboard the ISS and the Payload Operations Center. Our efficient and precise communications between the ground and the crew increase the scientific return from payload operations.
- Inventory Management - Our logistical specialists help maintain the massive amount of equipment and consumables aboard the ISS. Our management of onboard inventory helps keep the Space Station running efficiently and helps keeps the astronauts focused on science tasks, not inventory management.
For Space Age training with down-to-earth results, Teledyne Brown has always
met the challenge with superior results.
