Telemetry and Data Handling
Teledyne Brown Engineering is highly experienced in telemetry and data handling for space missions. From the Apollo lunar exploration (for which we provided over 80% of the Saturn telemetry) to support for the International Space Station, we have been continuously involved in the development and operation of space-mission data-handling systems.
Our data management expertise includes:
- Studies to schedule data for downlink during the mission and to monitor and maintain adequate data-flow paths during real-time operations
- Data acquisition, conversion, multiplexing, and buffering during loss of signal periods
- Data processing and storage activities ranging from decommutation to cataloging and warehousing
- Graphical and textual display of data and dissemination to users.
- We were an early innovator in data compression and have contributed significantly to advancing the state of the art in this technology.
