Quality Assurance

Teledyne Brown Engineering (TBE) rigorously applies quality assurance in every phase of our projects. Our Quality Management System Manual (QMSM) states and describes the quality management system that we use in the design, development, fabrication, and maintenance of deliverable products (software and hardware) and services in compliance with ISO 9001 and AS 9100. The objectives of this QMSM are to:

Provide an initial point of reference for anyone needing information on TBE's Quality Management System
Aid employees' understanding and management of TBE's Quality Management System
Provide the standard for quality achievement by TBE.

This manual provides a road map to TBE's Quality Management System and is intended to facilitate compliance with ISO 9001 and AS 9100. The QMSM Sections are numbered and titled to correspond exactly with the corresponding element titles of ISO 9001 and AS 9100. The Manual was formatted in this manner so that requirements can be readily traced from the elements of ISO 9001 and AS 9100 to the TBE implementation of the requirements in the QMSM.

The QMSM describes how the ISO 9001 quality standard is used for the development and maintenance of products and services within the Huntsville operations. It also describes how AS 9100 is met on contracts imposing this supplemental standard on TBE. Contents of this Manual labeled as AS 9100 are optional for ISO 9001 operations.

The Teledyne Brown Engineering CMMI Process Handbook (CPH), which is fully compatible with the QMSM, provides a structure for the disciplined application of software engineering practices at TBE. The approach taken for defining the TBE software engineering practices has evolved from common TBE software management processes into the current CPH, which defines the TBE standard software development process.

The TBE standard software process incorporates management and engineering practices into an easy-to-follow process. The CPH provides TBE with a structured process for accomplishing software engineering tasks. The intent of the CPH is to provide the basis for continuous planning, performing, controlling, and reviewing of projects that deliver software products to TBE Customers.

Both the QMSM and the CPH require effective configuration control of our Government-related hardware, software, and engineering documentation products. An effective and timely configuration management and control system is used. Product identifiers (numbers) are not duplicated within TBE (for different products).
