HUNTSVILLE, AL - March 10, 2013 - The Women's Business Center of North Alabama (WBCNA) announced today that support from Teledyne Brown Engineering, Inc. facilitated the launch of a Credentials Program which helps small businesses secure work with the government.
The Credentials Program, which is offered through WBCNA's Government Procurement Assistance Center (GPAC), is based on direct feedback from Prime Contractors and government Procurement Officers on essential contracting and business qualifications for small business partners. WBCNA's goal with this program is help small businesses become better subcontractors and ultimately prime contractors, thus improving their likelihood of success in government contracting.
The Program is comprised of ten 4-hour modules and will be offered twice per year. The modules include fundamental contracting topics such as 12 Steps to Doing Business with the Government, Effective Capabilities Statements, and Government Contractor Accounting. Advanced modules include topics such as GSA Schedules and Capture Management. Attendees may complete all ten modules in order to receive a WBCNA Credentials Letter or attend individual sessions.
WBCNA President and CEO Joanne Randolph noted, "The Credentials Program will help small businesses in our community gain the skills they need to be successful in government contracting. This program is the direct result of prime contractors like Teledyne Brown reinvesting in the small business community. The Teledyne Brown team consistently offers support with their time, feedback on training topics and support of this program."

The first GPAC Credentials Program began this month, and a second series will be offered in late summer. The program runs ten consecutive weeks and workshops are generally held from 11 a.m. to 1p.m. or 1p.m. to 5 p.m. at the WBCNA offices in the Chamber of Commerce of Huntsville/Madison County. The cost to attend each workshop is $50 in advance or $60 at the door. Participants may receive one workshop for free if registering for all ten events.
