HUNTSVILLE, AL - November 16, 2012 - Teledyne Brown Engineering, Inc. today announced that the company has achieved Capability Maturity Model® Integration for Development (CMMI®-DEV) at Maturity Level 3 version 1.3 from Carnegie Mellon's Software Engineering Institute (SEI) for its Mission Systems Group.
CMMI is a collection of best practices that helps organizations to improve their processes and ensure repeatability. CMMI-DEV specifically provides a comprehensive integrated set of guidelines for developing quality products and services.
Our defined processes at Maturity Level 3 ensure Teledyne Brown Engineering and our customers that the processes within this business group are consistent, detailed, processes are well characterized and understood, and are described in the organization's standards, procedures, tools, and methods. As a result, the processes performed across the organizational unit are consistent, described in detail, and managed more proactively.

The Lead Appraiser was Norman Hammock of A1 Independent Consulting. The appraisal ended September 14, 2012. Teledyne Brown is one of only 165 companies in the U.S. that has achieved CMMI-DEV Maturity Level 3.
