HUNTSVILLE, AL – May 21, 2015 – Teledyne Brown Engineering, Inc. was inducted as a member of the Franz Edelman Academy at the annual Institute for Operations Research and Management Sciences (INFORMS) Edelman Awards Gala in Huntington Beach, California. The Edelman Academy consists of a select group of organizations who are recognized for significant contributions to operations research and analytics in both profit and non-profit sectors.
Teledyne Brown was recognized for its work on the U.S. Army’s Program Executive Office Ground Combat Systems (PEO GCS) team, which also included Sandia National Laboratories and Booz Allen Hamilton. The PEO GCS is charged with acquiring maximal ground combat capabilities for the Army within a broad set of constraints, including cost, schedule, and production. Teledyne helped develop and apply the Capabilities Portfolio Analysis Tool (CPAT) to guide multi-billion dollar Army acquisition decisions, providing future capability and protection of U.S. troops. CPAT has now been used in over 40 analysis studies.

In addition to the induction into the Academy, Dr. Roy Rice, chief engineer at Teledyne Brown, was named as a Franz Edelman Laureate for co-authoring the Edelman finalist research paper, “Maximizing U.S. Army’s Future Contribution to Global Security Using the Capability Portfolio Analysis Tool (CPAT).” Laureates are honored for their considerable contribution to work that is selected as representative of the best applications of analytical decision making in the world.
