HUNTSVILLE, AL - March 9, 2017 - Teledyne Brown Engineering was selected as the 2016 NASA Small Business Industry Awards Agency-Level winner for the Mentor Protégé of the Year.  This award was based on the Mentor Protégé Agreement established with the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV), a minority-serving institution, and was presented during the recent spring NASA Industry Forum (NIF) meeting.

“Teledyne Brown Engineering is pleased to accept this award for our work with UNLV and for NASA,” stated Jan Hess, President.  “Our company strives to help broaden NASA’s workforce to maximize its efficiencies and strengths. We are committed to including small businesses in many of our programs across multiple markets in addition to MO&I”.

As the prime contractor for the Mission Operations and Integration (MO&I) contract Teledyne Brown Engineering used their extensive experience in human spaceflight operations and integration; Ground Support Personnel and Payload Developer training; and unmanned spaceflight operations and integration knowledge to assist UNLV in continuing their International Space Station (ISS) business base. UNLV students were able to gain real-world experience developing multi-media training products for ISS Ground Support Personnel and Payload Developers.  The products developed will have a lasting impact on the effectiveness and efficiency of ISS ground training.  The students also completed courses, which are part of the curriculum for becoming ISS flight controllers and instructors.  Teledyne Brown Engineering and UNLV are exploring possibilities for additional opportunities to work together for NASA in the future.
