TBE maintains several licenses and certifications as a part of its radiochemical analytical and radiological business. Our Radioactive Material License includes by-product, source, and special nuclear materials at levels adequate to handle large environmental and mixed-sampling programs. As part of the radioactive material license and industrial regulatory requirements, we maintain a comprehensive health and safety program that addresses control of radioactive and hazardous materials.

TBE maintains a Radioactive Material License granted by the State of Tennessee that permits possession and analysis of radioactive samples up to 40 mCi/isotope.

The current administrative limit on the receipt of samples for 10 CFR 61 analysis is 10 microcuries (10 μCi) per sample. Please contact your Project Manager if this creates a problem obtaining a representative sample for analysis. The Project Manager has the authority to allow the customer to exceed 10 μCi as long as the activity per sample is no greater than 100 μCi and no greater than 50 mRem/hr. Samples that exceed the Project Manager’s authorization limit but are within our license requirements may be received at TBE after approval is obtained from the Radiation Safety Officer. Prior notification is necessary to ensure that incoming samples are processed properly. Higher-level samples can be accommodated with customer initial preparation and dilution.
